Gordon's Song

Just in time for our adult Christmas party, I thought I'd post this from last year's Christmas party. There are 2 versions of the song, one that is almost 10 MB, for those who want a better quality video. You can get that one here. The other on is just under 3 MB, for those who don't want it to take very long to download. You can get that here. Enjoy!

Kaylee's Recital

Kaylee had a dance recital last Thursday, December, 15th. She sure loves her "formances". I caught it on my camcorder, and you can catch it here. Also, just for kicks, I also posted Kaylee's recital from last Christmas. You can get that here. They are both in .wmv format so if you don't have Windows Media player, you can get it here.

Hot for your health! Part 2

As an update to the Hot for your health program at work, we have now finished 2 sessions of it, and are beginning a third. The second session involved teams. Each team tracked their miles and worked on a weekly goal. At the end, the team that had traveled the most miles won. My team worked so hard and we ended up winning by over 1000 miles. For my part, I was bicycling about 3-5 times per week. It felt so good, and with benefits. Since my knee surgery in March, I have lost 30 pounds! I feel better, I am more agile, but still have a long way to go. My goal is to get down under 200 pounds. I haven't been there probably since before getting married in 1999. We shall see how it goes.

Gridley Family Olympics

Last Saturday, we had the 2nd annual Gridley Family Olympics.
The events were:

  • 7-mile bike race
  • Obstacle course
  • Softball throw
  • 1-mile run
  • 50 meter dash

I ended up winning the men's competition with 40 points total. Russell came in second with 30 points. Garth (Leslie's husband) came in third with 26 points, Josh in fourth with 10 points, and Dad in fifth with 4 points.

The women's competition was much closer. Cara and Leslie both tied for first with 30 points. Stacey took third with 28 points. I don't remember the other point totals.

It was a very fun activity, enjoyed by all. Maybe next year we can get Gordon, Diana, and Elayna and their families to participate as well. Nobody thought to bring a camera or camcorder, or I would have posted some pictures. Oh well, next time!

Been a while!

It's been a while since my last post. I even forgot to take any pictures at our LAN party! Oh well. The month of June was a busy one for me. One week, I was gone to Wisconsin attending training for a new product from Avid. That was kind of fun, but I was glad to get back. Then, we went up to our uncle's cabin just outside of Vernal. That was a very fun week with our family.

July was also a very busy month with the 4th of July celebrations and Pioneer day as well.

And now we're into August. I did get a new toy recently. It's a DVD-Recorder with built-in Hard Drive. It's kind of like a TiVo, but without the monthly fee. It is awesome. I got this model: DMR-EH50S. I like being able to record and delete very easily. Then, if I want to save something, I can record it to DVD from the Hard Drive. Awesome!

LAN Party

This friday, I will be having a LAN party at my house. It probably won't be a very big one, only about 6-8 people, but sometimes those are the funnest. We mostly play first person shooters, in particular Call of Duty: United Offensive and Unreal Tournament 2004. Those are some fun games! I will try to take some pictures and post them here afterwards. I forget a lot of times to take pictures because I'm having too much fun fragging!

My Birthday!

Yesterday was my birthday! It was a fun day, at work, there were some balloons and a card for me. They took me out for lunch and we went to California Pizza Kitchen. Then, yesterday night I went with my wife, kids, and in-laws to Robintinos and ordered another pizza! Two pizzas in one day...hmmm! It was a great birthday! Thanks to everyone for the fun day.

Hot for your health!

KSL's insurance company, DMBA has begun a little competition with the employees here. It is called Hot for your Health! There are seven options, they are:

  • No soda
  • 64 oz. Water daily
  • 5 fruits and veggies combined
  • 10,000 steps/day
  • 45 minutes of cardiovascular and/or strength training
  • Eat a healthy lunch
  • No "junk food"

Each person chooses 4 of them and does them 4 days a week. I have been doing it for about a month now and I am amazed at how much healthier I feel. I don't get headaches as much, I have more energy, etc. Pretty amazing what healthy habits can do. I just hope they stay habits.

Star Wars Episode 3

For the Star Wars Episode 3 opening, I was asked by KSL 1160 AM to dress up as Chewbacca to help out with the promotion. I agreed. It was a very fun experience, but I don't think that I would want to do it again. That Chewbacca suit was very hot. I realized as soon as I put the mask on that it would be a long night. It was interesting to see all of the little kids and how excited they were to see the friendly wookie. Here is a picture of me with Doug Wright (Obi-Wan) and Jason Anderson (Storm Trooper). You can see the rest of the pictures from that night here.

MX Logic

The company I work for, KSL, recently changed our spam filtering service to a company called MX Logic. So far, we have been absolutely amazed by the results. It is blocking roughly 75% of all email. What's the best part is that each user has control over the email that they receive, they can view the quarantined items, release them, add them to their whitelist, etc. They also do virus and attachment scanning for us. We have been very pleased with it.

Knee Surgery

Last Wednesday, March 30th, I had minor knee surgery. Everything went very well, and I am limping around now with the help of a crutch. I had a tear in my Medial Miniscus as well as a "loose body" floating around. Turns out that the doctor actually had to clean up some of the cartiledge in there as well. That anestesia is some weird stuff! I was told that about 1 in 6 people gets nauseated when the anestesia is wearing off. Well, I fit into that category perfectly. I will be going back to work on Monday, and hopefully, this surgery helps my knee in the long run.

Kaylee's First Picture

Kaylee decided that she wanted to learn how to take pictures, so we let her. She pushed the button, then quickly looked at the front of the camera to see what was happening. She successfully took a very close-up picture of her self.

Christmas 2004

Just decided to put up a picture of our kids from last Christmas. They sure did love opening the presents and spending time with grandmas, grandpas, and cousins. We enjoyed our 3rd Christmas with Kaylee and 2nd with Aaron.

KSL

Last week, I hit my 1 year anniversary of working at KSL. I still love working here. It is a great company to work for, and an excellent work environment.

Ready for Church

Kaylee and Aaron love getting ready for church. Our church meetings start at 1:00, yet Kaylee starts asking us to wear her "pretty dress" at about 9:00 or 10:00.

First Blog

Well, I have begun my blog! This is my first posting to it. I would mainly like to use this to post pictures that I would like to share. We will see how it goes. If you have any comments/suggestions, please email me at eric AT gridleygroup DOT com.
